How Big is Your Plate?

August 28, 2012 by admin

How Big is Your Plate?

how bis is your plate

Have you seen someone who in “your opinion” is not doing much in comparison to what you are dealing with, and yet they are SUPER OVERWHELMED?

They are like: oh I am so busy and tired..

So this is what I have learned: it all depends on the size of your plate!

Some people can’t just handle much.  They have a very small plate, and they honestly feel overwhelmed.  There is only ONE who can give you a bigger plate and that is GOD!

Also, don’t be proud of yourself just because you have a bigger plate. At times it’s better to have a smaller plate but do the little you do with zeal and excellence, than to say YES to lots of things and not really do a superb job.

***

Here are a few tips:

{1} ASK ASK ASK GOD!

We need to be constantly praying for God to teach how to handle more, and be eager to learn.

{2} Learn How to Prioritize

Time management is one of the most valuable skills you can acquire.

{3} Stop Being Self Absorbed!

We tend to be self absorbed, it’s in our nature.  If we only look at our own problems, they seem huge.  Instead, step back, look at what others are going through.  What are others doing with the little resources they have been given.

{4} Be Teachable

Be constantly learning new skills and ways you can handle more, so you can serve GOD and His people better.

{5} Be Gracious

Be gracious to people around you. It’s a gift from GOD that you can do what you can do. Be humble!

***

I heard this in some business training:

Everyone gets 24 hours in a day. There are people who are married, with 4 kids and a multi million dollar business. Then they are those housewives with two kids with a messy home, not being able to practice hospitality or add anything to their schedule because they are “busy”!

An amazing example is Dani Johnson! She has 5 kids and 3-4 gran kids. She is a devoted Christian.  With her husband they own 5 businesses and give away 1 million dollars  month AWAY to orphans and other charities around the world.  Oh, and she only works 20 hours a week!

HOW CAN SHE DO ALL OF THIS?

I am so grateful for such inspiring examples!

Can I Have a Cookie?

August 27, 2012 by admin

Can I Have a Cookie?

can I have a cookie

The little boy says:  ”Mama, can I have a cookie?”

Mama says:  ”No son!”

Then the little boy finds daddy and says: “Daddy, can I have a cookie?”

Mmm what does daddy say?

*

This little story illustrated how we are sometimes!

This is another story I heard the other day. A woman talking about how they have been married for 5-6 years and they have not been able to conceive a child.  They have been praying for years.  3 times they were super close to adopting a child but somehow it didn’t work out.   She said they are desperate and there isn’t anything else they can do.  They have absolutely tried everything.  Needless to mention, it was heart breaking to hear this story, and humbling for Gods graciousness to give us Luke.

*

We continue to ask (I mean pray) for what it is that we want over and over.  God has already responded with a “NO”, or at least “NOT YET!”.

We continue to ask God over and over.  When we don’t see any change, then we look aorund to pursue what it is that we want. We try this and that because we want things to happen in our timing.

Ultimately, it’s a matter of discernment to know when to stop asking for something.

This made me wonder if I am like that little boy asking over and over..

Embarrassed Christian moment

August 24, 2012 by admin

“Cancer Institute in Boston. They, along with other top tacos, believe that between 70 and 80 percent of cancers are linked to diet and other

behavioral factors like tobacco and alcohol—and not genetics. According to a 2009 study by the American Institute for Cancer Research, excess
body fat alone causes more than 100,000 cancers every year. But here’s the good news: If we can screw it up, then there’s a good chance we can
fix it, too. Nature meets nurture and beyond. Olé!

But not everyone agrees. After I gave a recent speech at a hospital in Georgia, a woman in the audience raised her hand to tell me I was wrong.

In her mind, lifestyle choices didn’t matter; if our name was in “God’s book,” we got sick. It’s the book that matters, not the pepperoni pizza. I can’t
think of a more disempowered way to look at life. If that were the case, why bother trying to do anything other than pick lint out of your belly button?
Didn’t God give us free will? Isn’t that the beauty of being human?”

Read this today and got me thinking about how misunderstood we as Christians are,

and how badly we represent God and His will and desire for us.

Fear NOT!

August 24, 2012 by admin

Fear Not!

fear not

This past few weeks there has been issues with the music ministry at our church.  There are people who have opinions and thoughts but don’t express them to “not offend others”, they want to “respect the leader”.  Then there are people who are not very good at the music and yet they do not want to give up their position to someone who is clearly better!

*

These were some of my thoughts, and what the Lord has been revealing to me:

{1} You must practice EXCELLENCE!

Specially at church!  We are accustomed to just be super happy that there is a volunteer. We are not too concerned if they are truly qualified.  We gotta try to improve ourselves and skills always.   If not, you are no good no more!

{2} Don’t be concerned with your glory, but GODS!

If you can’t honestly see someone else who does a better job than you, then you have a few issues to deal with!  Step aside, Jesus’ name is at stake!

{3} Be Teachable!

No matter if your work is valued or not.  Don’t compare yourself to others in an envious way.  Instead, be teachable!  Learn new skills, strengthen the skills you have.  Keep your eyes on GOD.

His desire is to bring glory and attention to His Son.  He will indeed bless you, give your more talents and confidence to do an awesome job representing Him in the world.

*

And then I was listening to my awesome friend Dani. This is what she said:

People whose name are in history are people who had no fear of others, in fact, they risked their lives for what they believed.  Those are the kind of people who make a mark, who are in the place of influence.

People told Dani not to talk like this and that to not lose clients by offending them. She said those who are affraid of losing people have already lost them. Anyone who has done something powerful in history that we still talk about wasn’t worried and fearful of some loss.

Free people are NOT afraid of losing.

Yes you will lose some, but the gain is so much better that you can easily overlook.  People who are insecure are the ones attacking do not have fear of them.

*

If you want to be in a position of influence. If you believe that a certain change may offend someone but it will in the long run help reach unbeliever, encourage believers and bring glory to GOD, put your fear aside!

“ So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Isaiah 41:10

7 Tips in Becoming a better Fisher of Men!

August 24, 2012 by admin

7 Tips in Becoming a better

Fisher of Men!

become a better fisher of men

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” Matt 4:19

Mmm.. what does that mean to be “fisher of men”?  It sure is Jesus’s desire to make us one.  It’s one of the fruits of following him.  The great commission is to go to all  the nations, baptise and disciple people and teach them about Jesus’ commands.  We call that “evangelism”.  Evangelism is like fishing as Jesus says.  There is so much involved in fishing!  There is a bait involved. You can’t shove it down the fishes throat!

You see, you and I are fishers.. Maybe not good ones!  You need to know that some days you’ll fish lots of fish and some days after hours of effort none! But still, it’s the whole experience and can be lots of fun!

Below is 7 Steps in becoming a better fisher of men!

1

{Go where the fishes are at}

First of, a good fisher goes where the fishes are at!  YOU are the one that need to go where the people you need to witness to are at!  They are not going to come to you, to church or to your Bible study!!  A good fisher knows where the fishes are in the lake and goes there!

We need discernment to know WHERE to go, God is the one who leads us toward the fishes. But, we need to be willing to GET OUT of our comfort zone and understand this process.

***

2

{Be intentional}

You got to be intentional, in the “fishing” mode”!  Many people go to the lake and walk around to have fun, if you are not in the “fishing mode” you are going to let hundreds of fishes just pass you by!  If you are not intentional, you are not even going to notice that the Lord has brought lots of fishes your way..  You are concerned about yourself and not others!

Everyday, we have got to ask GOD to bring up opportunities to love and serve others.  Opportunities where we can be a witness and show the love of Jesus to others.

***

3

{What is your bait?}

If you want to fish, you need a bait!  If the fishes don’t find any good reason to come toward your hook, they are not gonna!  You have got to have a bait.  Is your bait the kind that attracts or repels fishes?

Are you a person of influence in your community, class, family, church or work?  Are you actively reaching out to others, making their day, making them feel cared for?  Or you are there just to do your thing and head out? Some of us Christians seem to have been baptized in pickle juice!  We don’t know how to SMILE, how to ask questions and show interest in others.  Invite people to our homes..  We are into ourselves.  That kind of bait my friend is not going to attract no fish!

***

3

{The right bait based on the fish}

You see, there are many kinds of baits out there.  Each kind of fish requires its own type of bait.  What kind of fishes your bait attract?

***

4

{Patience with faith}

***

5

{If God says drop the net, do it, though you have no faiththere’s anything there }

***

6

{With everything in place, you may not still fish}

***

7

{God is the fish giver!} PRAY & seek wisdome

American Poor

American Poor

Poor American

Do you realize HOW WEALTHY & BLESSED we are in this country?

I am tired of hearing people complain about their finances.  Look to the heavens and thank GOD for what you have.

Just compare these two men and their hands.   No comments!

Stop complaining and blaming the economy, other or God.  Take responsibility for your actions already!

The Lord will not bless you much further, if you do not prosper where you are planted.

Don’t Be Ignorant!

August 3, 2012 by admin

Don’t Be Ignorant!

I read this today:

Which is worse : Arrogant Atheist or Ignorant Christian?

I wish Atheists become more humble and Christians educate more about their faith…

What do you think?

Have you ever thought why we Christians have been stereo typed as “ignorant”?  Now, if atheists are arrogant it’s their problem but we represent the Creator of the Universe and yet people perceive us as ignorant.

Many Christians live as if they are on vacation!  Just passing through!  Only concerned with themselves and their busy life.  Conformed knowing that no matter what, they are going to heaven thanks to JESUS;  they try to be “good” people, but not excellent!

The truth is that we humans are always going to be ignorant about one thing or another, however, we MUST be very diligent about what we say we believe and if our actions truly reflect what we believe.

*

“Hate the sin, not the sinner”!
I have heard this so many times, even quoted by pastors.   As you know this is not in the Bible.  Second, the bad part is that this is an exact quote said by Gandhi. Now, there is nothing wrong with quoting an unbeliever, but if they were bisexual, racist and cuddled with nude 17 year old girls including their nieces, then saying this quote talking about Christianity is pure ignorance!
*
To change the bad name we left of Jesus in the world, we MUST intentionally be seeking wisdom, knowledge of things of GOD and this world. We must constantly be reading new books (not just novels).   Take every opportunity to acquire knowledge from our lives, others lives, believers, unbelievers, and of course the BIBLE!
*
To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.
1 Peter 5:11
*
hate the sin not the sinner

Be Excellent

July 24, 2012 by admin

Aristotle quote

I need to remind myself that as a child of the most high GOD, I must be intentional in everything that I do, and do it as best as I can. Everything as in even making our bed daily (which I didn’t make by the way!)

I guess being excellent is easier than being perfect!  But as you know,  being perfect is what our Father ask of us (Matthew 5:48)!

The good news is that excellence is something we can achieve!

It requires dedication, commitment and hard work.   You gotta really really want it!

We need to start one step at a time!

Let’s do this together!

{1} Choose one “unimportant” task you do daily.  Something you are sloppy at! (like making your bed!)

{2} Commit to intentionally pay attention to it, do it with excellence, like a pro for this week.

{3} Every week choose a new task

Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Matthew 5:48 (NIV)

Be an Ever Changing Christian!

July 20, 2012 by admin

Be an Ever Changing Christian!

Changing Christian

A true Christian is one that has been touched by God, washed by the blood of the lamb, immersed by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Your desire and nature changes!

If you are not that different from people around, or who you were before then something is fishy!

If you don’t have that desire to change, ask God to give you that desire and thirst for Him, His Word, and a changed life.

Jesus:  ”I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”  (John 10:10)
